Butoh

Butoh is one of the most interesting forms of dance that I have ever seen. It is a for of Japanese dance theatre that encompasses a range of different activities, techniques and motivations for dance, performance, or movement. The costumes that they were when they do these dances are just incredible. They are so intricate and precisely made for every single dance. Also the way that the dancers move is so thought out and precise. Each dancer knows exactly what they are doing. Its so interesting to watch, because they aren't just dancing they are telling a story. These dances are to show the pain and suffering the Japanese suffered after the bombings in Japan. Since it is showing such pain the dancers are supposed to move slow and precise, while making unfathomable body gestures, which most are low to the ground. This is exploring a new way of dancing by breaking traditions.
