Velvet Undergroud

The velvet underground was an American rock band active between 1964 and 1973. They band as a whole had very little commercial success together but over all they were cited one of the most influential groups off all time. They fell under many categories rock, experimental rock, art rock, proto- punk, avant-garde, and drone. They only sold 30,000 copies of their album in their early years, but it was said that every one of the 30,000 people who brought a copy of their album started a band. Their album The Velvet Underground & Nico was named the 13th greatest album of all time and the most prophetic rock album ever made. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.
